Colts take the wind out of the Storm

If early trends continue, the Barrie Colts may well erase any lingering memories of last season’s debacle, when they finished dead last in the Ontario Hockey League, with 34 points and 15 wins.
In 2011-12 pre-season play, the Colts have five wins after last night’s (Thursday) 5-3 victory over the Guelph Storm.
The Storm burst out to take an early lead at 1:47 of the opening frame, but the Colts’ Zach Hall tied the game minutes later, at 3:50. Guelph jumped back into the lead later in the frame. It didn’t last long as Derek Hartwick’s tally sent the Colts into the intermission tied 2-2.
Alex Yuill put the Colts ahead at 9:02 of the second, with his second marker of the pre-season. The Storm responded to make it 3-3 going into the third.
Colin Behenna’s two tallies in the third took the wind out of the Storm, earning Barrie its fifth win.
The pre-season concludes Friday in Sudbury. The season kicks off next Thursday when the Kingston Frontenacs come to town.
