TIFT books Dale for comedy fest

Cynthia Dale is performing at the Barrie International Comedy Festival Supreme Comedy Gala, filling in for Mary Walsh who is cancelling due to illness.
The week-long festival, starting Sept. 15, according to TIFT, the organizer, will feature Dale, “one of Canada’s most acclaimed and sought after performers – a ‘triple sensation’ known for her award-winning work as an actor, singer and dancer.” Her bio includes her portrayal as Olivia Novak on the television series Street Legal and her “many years as a star performer in musicals at the Stratford Festival.”
Dale joins an impressive line-up of comedy giants, including SCTV star Andrea Martin, This Hour has 22 Minutes star Gavin Crawford, Lorne Elliott from CBC Radio’s Madly Off in All Directions, and First Nations actor, improviser and comedian, Herbie Barnes. The evening will be hosted by celebrated journalist and Toronto Star theatre critic, Richard Ouzounian.
Mary Walsh’s solo show, scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 17, has been cancelled. Ticket holders will be contacted by the Mady box office to make arrangements.
The Barrie International Comedy Festival is a week of comedy performances featuring performers from Canada and around the world. Ten afternoon and evening performances are scheduled over the week, hosted at both the Mady Centre and the Georgian Theatre. They include Andrea Martin, Brent Butt, Ivanka and Rod Beattie as Wingfield, among others. The week will also feature the Laugh @ Lunch series of one hour events weekdays at noon.
