Spivak adds relief to Mady’s capital campaign

Arkady Spivak, Talk Is Free Theatre’s (TIFT) artistic producer, is taking fund-raising matters in hand, laying claim to naming rights to one of two urinals at the Mady Centre for the Performing Arts.
For his five-year gift to the centre’s capital campaign, Spivak’s name will be enshrined on a plaque above the urinal, featuring a quote from William Shakespeare’s Hamlet, “For this relief much thanks.”
The centre opened to much acclaim in September in downtown Barrie, on the southwest corner of the historic Five Points intersection. It’s managed by the Department of Culture, and is available for professional and amateur productions.
TIFT is one of the centre’s main tenants. Founded in 2003 by Spivak, it has produced more than 50 shows.
If anyone is interested in joining Spivak on the wall, naming rights to the second urinal remain open. Call general manager Erika Rueter at 705-792-1949, ext: 23, for more information.
