Rhythmfest keeps a beat at Heritage Park

Barrie catches the beat this Saturday when Rhythmfest, Celebrating the Universal Language of Rhythm, returns to town.
Scheduled for 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Rhythmfest, called Barrie’s only truly interactive festival, keeps the beat at Heritage Park. As with previous editions, this year’s celebration will feature workshops and performances from a variety of genres.
Acts include Barrie’s own ‘Please and Thanks,’ Errol Lee and Victoria Mestres, Humming Bird Tassa, the Afro-Cuban sounds of Iya Ire, and Arecibo featuring Brownman Ali – a contemporary Latin Jazz ensemble. Clinics on drum kits, hand drums, Middle Eastern dancing, children’s drumming and dancing workshops will also be occurring throughout the day.
And, the event features the search for Barrie’s best drummer in the ‘Just Beat It!’ contest. The drum solo competition will give Barrie and area drummers the chance to perform and win some great prizes.
International food vendors and artisans will also be selling their wares throughout the day.
