Moist opens renewed Roxy Theatre

Barrie’s grand old lady of entertainment, the Roxy Theatre, returns to the scene, bringing live shows to a local audience.
The theatre at 46 Dunlop Street West has long been a symbol of stellar entertainment in the city. Since the 1930s when the Saso family opened the Roxy, to its run as The Roxx Nightclub under the direction of Rob Hamilton, this building has an exciting past focused on entertaining the residents of Barrie and surrounding area for nearly a century, states a release by the new owners, Embrace (owners of Toronto’s award winning Danforth Music Hall) and Admiral Live.
“This concert theatre promises to bring a host of world class entertainment to the city across many genres.”
Multi-platinum Canadian rockers Moist return to Barrie to perform at The Roxy Theatre’s opening concert on Friday, Aug. 28. Moist’s most recent album, Glory Under Dangerous Skies, and the impending Canadian tour was a successful return to market. This began with a series of exclusive sold-out shows last fall and the forthcoming release of their long-awaited new album, according to the release.
