Illuminating underwater insights

Talk is Free Theatre (TIFT) is bringing renowned underwater adventurer Dr. Joe MacInnis to town to share his experiences and insights as part of the theatre’s Illuminating Conversations series.
His biography, according to a TIFT release, reads like an underwater Indiana Jones adventure. Among his many adventures are dives to the Titanic, the Edmund Fitzgerald, and the Breadalbane, the world’s most northerly shipwreck, 500 miles north of the Arctic Circle.
He filmed harp seals in the St. Lawrence River in their native habitat, part of the same expedition as Farley Mowat. And he collaborated with filmmaker James Cameron over a series of deep-sea documentaries.
The good doctor has logged more than 5,000 hours underwater, and has earned seven honorary doctorates,in addition to his MD from the University of Toronto. As might be expected, MacInnis knows something about leadership in lethal environments.
On Monday, Sept. 14th, Dr. MacInnis will sit down and talk with Beth Foster, and share what he has learned from his many adventures. Ticket for this special event are only $20. Produced by Lin Wilson and Beth Foster, the Illuminating Conversations series is supported by Stephanie & Graham Knight and Lin and Tom Wilson.
