BRAVADO performs at Busby gala

The David Busby Street Centre’s sixth Annual Street Light Gala is planned for tomorrow (May 28) at Library North, and includes a special performance by BRAVADO, Barrie’s show choir.
The choir’s performance involves a mix of musical styles, from classical to rock, Broadway to jazz. The performance will include a showing of the much-anticipated 2nd Annual Visibly Unseen Photo Journal.
The centre’s awards recipients for 2011 are: Founder’s Award, Keith & Mary Caldwell; David Busby Memorial Award, Earl Paquette; Community Service Award, Barrie Out Of the Cold; Volunteer of the Year Award, Laurina Krans.
Tickets for the gala are $75, and a $25 tax receipt will be issued. The centre’s second annual Tribute Journal will be in full colour, permitting fundraising to be done according to established recognition levels: angel, $5,000; diamond, $2,500; gold, $1,500; full page, $600; half page, $350; one-third page, $150; one-twelfth page, $50, and a greeting at $25.

Funds raised help the centre assist nearly 200 people a day, providing emergency care such as food, infant supplies, basic needs, clothing and shelter, and a variety of counselling and reference supports. The centre also operates a mobile outreach service.
