Police rescue ‘distressed’ dogs

August 25, 2015

On Sunday, police took a call about two dogs in distress within a vehicle, parked in the Walmart parking, located on Bayfield Street.
Upon arrival officers quickly gained access to the vehicle, and both dogs were rescued and turned over to the Ontario SPCA. The owner of the animals has been charged.
Police are reminding pet owners not to leave animals inside a parked vehicle. Temperatures can rapidly increase within a vehicle in a very short period of time. Cruelty to animals is a criminal offence, and persons charged may face a maximum of five (5) years in prison or a fine not exceeding $10,000.
