City lifeguards pack their suits

In a sign that summer is dwindling, city lifeguards were pulled from their perches on local beaches, Monday.
They will no longer be scheduled at Barrie’s beaches. The buoy lines will remain in the water until after Labour Day weekend.
This summer also marked another successful partnership between The City of Barrie and the Canadian Red Cross for the PFD Loan Service. This year 70 people participated in the program which allows beach-goers to borrow personal flotation devices for free at Centennial Beach and Johnson’s Beach.
